Rachel Rotenberg was born in Toronto, Canada. She currently resides in Jerusalem, Israel. She attended college in Toronto, Jerusalem, and New York, receiving her BFA from York University in 1981.

Rachel and her partner Jean-Pierre Weill have five children. She is the recipient of grants from The Guggenheim foundation,  Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Canada Arts Council, Franz and Virginia Bader Fund, Harold and Ruth Chenven Foundation, Art Bank of Canada, and E.D. Foundation.

Rotenberg exhibits in North America and Israel. Selected exhibits include Museum on the Seam, Barbur Gallery, Van Leer Institute, The Baltimore Museum of Art, Creative Alliance, McLean Project for the Arts, Hillyer Art Gallery, Marianne Boesky, and Lori Bookstein Galleries.  

Rachel divides her time between Jerusalem and New York.
